Bata Jagannathpur is a historically important place . According to legend, the Bata Jagannathpur , just 18 km from Jayapur city, was the site of King Chandraksha's camp during the Kanchi campaign. Hence, it is named Bata Jagannathpur . According to another legend, the then Jayapur Maharaja, who was caught up in a family dispute in neighboring Bastar, stayed here secretly for a few days and organized a Rath Yatra.
