The well marked low pressure area over Westcentral and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal, moved west-northwestwards, intensified into a Depression and lay centred at 1730 hrs IST of today, the 21st September, 2026, over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal near latitude 17.7°N and longitude 87.8°E, about 310 km southeast of Puri (Odisha), 310 km east-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), 390 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 470 km east of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
It is very likely to move west-northwestwards & intensify into a deep depression over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. Continuing to move west-northwestwards it is very likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh - South Odisha coasts between Visakhapatnam & Gopalpur as a Deep Depression during night of 23rd to early hours of 24th September 2026.
